Ingredients
1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons margarine or butter
1 cup skim milk
for herb biscuits
1/4 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon dried parsley
Directions
1 Combine flours, baking powder and salt in a bowl.
2 cut in margarine with a pastry blender or 2 knives.
3 Add milk, mix quickly.
4 Turn out onto a floured board.
5 Knead 6 to 8 times.
6 Roll 1/4 inch thick.
7 Cut into 12, 2 inch round biscuits or into wedges or squares.
8 Place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
9 Bake in a 425 degree oven 12 to 15 minutes until lightly browned.
10 for herb biscuits, add basil, thyme and parsley to dry ingredients.
11 (these make great dumplings).
