Accessing the Editing Options
Once you have logged in, open your profile by clicking on “My Page” on the home page.
Select “Edit Member Profile” under “Actions” on the Left side of “My Page”.
Account Settings
User Name
You may not change or edit your username. If you need a new username, please logout and click "Join FaithStreams Families" on the home page to create a new account.
Email
Edit your email address here. A valid email address is required for your participation on FaithStreams Families because you may receive notifications from the FaithStreams Families system and messages from other FaithStreams Families users. FaithStreams Families respects your privacy. You will not receive any marketing emails from us and we will not share your email address with anyone. Read the Privacy and Use Policies for full details.
Re-Type Email
Re-enter the email address you entered above. This is to validate that your email address has been spelled correctly and is of the valid format.
Email Preference
Choose the format for all emails sent to you by the FaithStreams Families system and other FaithStreams Families members. Html emails will contain graphics and clickable links, but might be rejected by some email servers. Plain text emails contain only text. You should probably choose html unless you experience problems with html emails from other sources.
Birthday
You may not change or edit your birthdate. If the date is incorrect, please contact Customer Support for assistance.
When you have finished making changes to your Account Settings click "Update" to save them. Then click on another tab to edit profile, photo or password settings, or click "Back to Member Page." To discard changes without saving, simply click on another tab or click "Back to Member Page" without updating.
Profile Settings
Tell us more about yourself to help enhance your FaithStreams Communities experiences. We will not share your personal information with anyone outside of FaithStreams Communities. Only your user name will appear to other FaithStreams Communities users whom you have not made your family or friends. Family, friends and leaders of groups you belong to will see your full name in requests and messages you send to them. You will also see your first name on the mini-control panel and home page when you are logged in to FaithStreams Communities. Other FaithStreams Communities members will not see this.
Field Descriptions:
Allow my profile to appear in searches
If this checkbox is checked, your username and avatar image will be displayed in searches performed by other FaithStreams Communities users. If you do not want to be included in searches, uncheck this box. Note: Users under the age of 18 will NOT be included in searches unless permission has been granted by the leader of their primary group.
Make my profile private
If this box is checked users other than your friends and family will see only your username and a message that your pages are set to private viewership only.
First Name
Enter Your First Name here. Spaces are allowed.
Last Name
Enter Your Last Name here. Spaces are allowed.
City
Enter the name of the city you live in here.
State
Choose the two-letter abbreviation for the state you live in from the drop-down box.
Postal Code
Enter your Zip Code here. You should use only the 5-digit version of your Zip Code. Zip Codes should consist of numbers only.
Time Zone
Choose the time zone for the city you live in from the drop-down box. FaithStreams Communities automatically displays event dates and times correctly for your time zone and compensates for differences between time zones for different users and groups on FaithStreams Communities.
Denomination/Movement
Choose the denomination or movement you are a member of from the drop-down box. This step is optional. You can choose to leave this blank or choose ‘Other’ from the list. If you do not see your denomination or movement in the drop-down, send us an email and we will enter it for you and email you back. You can change your selection at any time by using your Member Control Panel, which is accessible after you have logged into FaithStreams Communities.
"About" Settings:
Short Bio
Tell us a little bit about yourself here. Be careful not to use any personally identifiable information such as your real name, your location, the name of your school, phone numbers, personal email addresses or instant messaging usernames. The information you enter here should be less than 1,000 characters in length.
Interests
Enter a list of your interests, separated by commas. Words you enter here will be included in the Interests tag cloud that appears on the FaithStreams Communities People page. Your interests should be one or two words long, for example: ‘hiking, swimming, chess, running, Bible study.’
You can find other FaithStreams Communities members with the same interests as yours by clicking on the links displayed on your member page. Other FaithStreams Communities members can find you based on your interests by using the tag cloud on the People page, unless you have chosen not to be included in searches. Note: Users under the age of 18 are excluded from searches by default.
External Links
You can display links to three different web sites on your Member page. You can link to your favorite web sites or to your page on other social networking sites. Sites linked to here will be displayed in new browser windows. Please keep in mind that all visitors to your FaithStreams Communities page will see these links, so you should not put links to personally identifiable information here. You can edit these links at any time via your Member Control Panel after you have logged in.
Each link consists of two parts, the link title and the link URL.
Link Title
Enter the short name of the link, which will be displayed on your profile. This is the text users will click on to access the external site.
Link URL
Enter the fully qualified link to the external web site, for example, http://www.mywebsite.com. If the link is long, it might be easier to copy and paste the link in rather than type it.
When you have finished making changes to your Profile Settings click "Update" to save them. Then click on another tab to edit account settings, photo or password settings, or click "Back to Member Page." To discard changes without saving, simply click on another tab or click "Back to Member Page" without updating.
Photo Settings
Photo
Here you may change the photo that is displayed on your FaithStreams Communities Member page and at other places on the site when you enter comments, forum posts and blog posts, and when you appear in searches performed by other FaithStreams Communities members. Note: if your profile is set to private a generic icon will display instead of your personal image.
For security’s sake you might want to choose an image that is an extension of your personality rather than a photo of yourself. Your photo should not contain personal information such as your real name.
Click on the ‘Browse’ to choose a photo from your computer for upload to the FaithStreams Communities site. Once you have chosen the file, click on the ‘Upload’ button to send it to the FaithStreams Communities server. After the page refreshes, your photo will be displayed here. Only images stored in JPEG format (ending in .jpg or .jpeg) are allowed at this time.
For best results, your image should be less than 800 x 600 pixels and smaller than 100 kilobytes. The system will automatically resize the image for use on the FaithStreams Communities site.
When you have finished making changes to your Photo Settings click "Update" to save them. Then click on another tab to edit account settings, profile or password settings, or click "Back to Member Page." To discard changes without saving, simply click on another tab or click "Back to Member Page" without updating.
Password Settings
Password
Type in the new password you will use to log in to the FaithStreams Communities site. Passwords are case-sensitive, so “Toto” is not the same as “toto”. Passwords must be at least six characters long. Passwords can consist the letters A - Z (both upper and lower case), the numbers 0 - 9, underscores and hyphens. Spaces are not allowed.
Re-Type Password
Re-enter the new password you entered in the field above. This is to validate that your password has been spelled correctly and contains valid characters only.
When you have finished making changes to your Password Settings click "Update" to save them. Then click on another tab to edit account settings, profile or photo settings, or click "Back to Member Page." To discard changes without saving, simply click on another tab or click "Back to Member Page" without updating.
Returning to Your Member Page
After you've finished making your changes you can return to your page by clicking "Back to Member Page from any tab or from the Actions box.
