Hello. So far all of us who have written anything agree it's a shame that New Morning is off the air. I'd like to see us make a go of this community now. Over a hundred people have looked at some of these posts, but only a handful have written anything. I am very curious to know what people are thinking about, what keeps you going, what makes your day, what helps you get through the day? I think we have a lot to say to one another.

I'll introduce myself: I am an interim minister in the United Church of Christ living in a suburb of Portland, Oregon. I have been taking some time off from work, but will soon be applying for two interim positions that just opened up in our area. I view myself as a liberal protestant Christian in the Reformed tradition. I am interested in and open to many types of spiritual practice. One of my denomination's mottos is "God is still speaking..." meaning that God is still active in the universe reaching out to us and revealing truth to us in many ways.

Questions to ponder: Who are you? What is on your mind? your heart? How is God speaking in your life today?

Dear Jean,
I have been diagnosed with stage four Parkinson's Diseaase for almost three years now. Since last October I have been posting on Patientslikeme .com as Pokie Too. When I found this site I was looking for my email and up came this site. I have never heard the term Pokie Too and have no idea how it popped into my mind as a username except to cover slow also. I had only been on the net for a month and was very, very iliterate NS NOQ LOOK at me and the site. There were 827 members that day and they now have about 2000. I'd say God's at work......

I am a new member to the community, I got this address from Pokie, and we met on Patients Like Me website. I am recovering from deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinsons and Pokie is a great inspiration to me, along with several others. I wish I had the same connection with God I felt before. I know he is still here, because I am still His child and He is always there even when He may seem silent. I guess I am asking for some help with prayer as I am dealing with the residual effects of medications that are leaving my body. I am anxious over many things and I am trying to prop up my faith with prayer as best I can,but I still am afraid. The trouble is I don't even know what I get afraid of. I hope this makes sense. I just am weak and the Lord is strong. I am a 48 year old mother of 2 with a wonderful husband who has seen me through the battles I have had. I am also a nurse. I have dealt periodically with depression for the last 20 years. Anyway,
I guess that is it. Browncat87(Nicole)

I think we have you to the right place my dear. You said we should change the name to "Friends for life" and I will have the group vote and we can...regarless you have us always. You are one of the (gutsyest) women I have ever known and I honor your friendship more than you know....let loose and enjoy the surrondings and be sure you sign up for the fathstreams newsletter and read it in the quiet of the morning. Before you start pushing your buttons to get going and we will talk about it. and then remember this: GOOD MORNING THIS IS GOD! .... I WILL BE HANDLING ALL YOUR PROBLEMS TODAY.....SO RELAX AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.......LOVE POKIE

thank you Pokie and talking to you makes me feel connected to you, GOD and the rest of the world-you are helping me renew my faith and spirit. I am sure I will continue to reincarnate and reinvent myself as I have been doing for my recovery since I had surgery. I love you and the rest of the girls and all our members. I am going to continue to find my way. You are the voice of God in my life. Love,Nicole
