I am sad that New Morning has been removed from the television. I wonder if any one out there saw a featured author within the last 3 weeks, name not known, but the topic was persuasive speech. The author was an attorney, and the body of her message was if we changed "how" we made statements, we may illicit behaviors that we desire, without offending the person.

I saw the feature, wrote down the title of the book, and the author but I can not locate the piece of paper I wrote it on... I would like to use this technique on my teenager. I would be ever so grateful if anyone would enlighten me to the above mentioned request for author and title of the persuasive speech book.

I'm also very disappointed that New Morning is no longer being aired on TV :( The book is Instant Persuasion by Laurie Puhn, J.D. You might find this link helpful to copy & paste:

Have a great day!

:)agree it is really a shame that New Morning is no longer being broadcast. At least now that I know that I will not pay the extra for premium cable to get the Hallmark channel back. (It's no longer available on basic cable in my area.)
I did not see the episode about persuasive speech, but I'd like to recommend a book called Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. I've been studying NVC for the past 6 months, and find it has been transformational for me. The idea is to identify your own feelings and needs before you speak, and to seek to identify the feelings and needs of those speaking to you. Because feelings and needs tend to be universal, identifying them tends to diffuse the charge in situations where conflict is a possibility. The core of the practice is to truly desire to connect with the person in question. It is not easy, but the pay off in self-awareness and understanding of others is enormous. I hope this is helpful.:)

I haven't watched New Morning in a while, because I leave the house too early. How sad I was today when I went to watch on my day off, to see that it was replaced by "paid programming"! I just want to say hello to others who have watched and loved the show. I just joined this evening, and am not awfully "saavy" about using these sites and communicating with others through this site.

Hello catyliz and everyone,
I am glad to see people are still joining. I have invited a lot of friends and family, and so far only one of them has joined. I am anxious to bring more people into this community and to see these forums take off and get some good discussuons going. I am new to this form of communication, too, but I think it is really neat to be able to talk about things that matter with people all over the country.

Peace,
Jean

Peace to you, Jean and other friends! I haven't invited any friends yet, but it is wonderful to know that there are folks out there who share spiritual bonds. As I get used to this form of communication, I'll probably get involved in the forums and discussions. In the meantime, it is just good to know you all are "out there"!
